Best Places to Elope in Tasmania

If you’re figuring out where to elope in Tasmania, it usually starts here.

It’s the kind of place people come to when they want something a bit more considered. The landscapes are bigger, the air’s quieter, and everything slows down in a way that lets the day actually breathe. You’ve got wild coastline, alpine peaks, and long stretches that feel properly untouched, all balanced with good food, good wine, and places to stay that feel like part of the experience rather than just somewhere to sleep.

It doesn’t need much added to it. The setting carries enough on its own, which makes it easy to build something that feels intentional without overcomplicating it.

What Makes a Great Elopement Location

The best elopement locations usually come down to a few simple things.

Somewhere a bit removed, where you’re not working around other people or timelines. A place that really shows off Tasmania, whether that’s coastline, mountains, or something more architectural. And somewhere that actually supports the experience of the day, not just the ceremony.

Good accommodation plays a big part in that. Somewhere you can settle into, spend time, have a proper meal, open a bottle of wine, and not feel like you need to rush off to the next thing. That’s usually what shifts it from just a ceremony into something that feels like a full experience.

A lot of the time, the easiest way to start is by finding a place you genuinely want to stay. An Airbnb or property that fits your style, then building the day around that. Once that’s locked in, everything else tends to fall into place.

Choosing the Right Way to Elope in Tasmania

There’s no single way to do it here, and that’s kind of the point.

Some people build the day around a place to stay. An Airbnb set on a secluded stretch of coastline, somewhere you can settle into properly, take your time, and let the day unfold without needing to be anywhere else.

Others lean further into the landscape. A walk or a multi-day hike, something that feels a bit more immersive, where the experience of getting there becomes part of the day itself.

The best elopements I shoot in Tasmania start the same way. A place to stay, a stunning location nearby, and a day that builds from there.

It’s less about picking the “right” format and more about choosing something that actually fits the way you want to spend the day.

My Favourite Elopement venues in Tasmania

As a Hobart wedding photographer who has photographed over 400 weddings, these are the places I keep coming back to when couples are figuring out where to elope in Tasmania.

Not just because they look good, but because they actually work. They give you space, they hold the day properly, and they let the experience unfold without needing to force anything.

Some are more refined, some more remote, but they all share the same thing — they let Tasmania do what it does best. Beautiful locations where you can unwind and connect with your surroundings, and allow enough room for the day to unfold naturally.

They’re the kind of places that don’t just host an elopement, they shape it.
